Dean, School of Business and Hospitality

About the Role:

The Dean, School of Business and Hospitality, is a key leadership position responsible for providing academic and administrative leadership to the School. The successful candidate will contribute to the academic well-being and growth of the College by developing, implementing, and reviewing strategic plans to position the School as a prominent institution. This includes oversight of all storefront operations and labs, as well as the planning, development, delivery, and ongoing review of the School's full-time and part-time post-secondary programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic and administrative leadership to the School, including oversight of academic chairs, professors, faculty, support staff, and administrative officers.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to position the School as a prominent institution, including goals, anticipated outcomes, and performance measures.
  • Ensure that the School's programs are responsive and relevant to the needs of students and the community, and that they conform to accreditation requirements and national/provincial standards.
  • Develop and maintain good professional relationships and meaningful partnerships with regional sectors relating to the School of Business and Hospitality.
  • Work closely with the Advancement Office to develop potential gifts or donations to the College in support of learning activities and initiatives within the School or College.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in business and other relevant field of study, PhD preferred.
  • Post-secondary credential in a program associated with the School of Business and Hospitality or Professional designation in Business.
  • Minimum of 13 years related experience in increasingly responsible roles.
  • Minimum of 5 years of senior-level leadership and management experience, with a preference that at least half of this time has been in a post-secondary educational institution.
  • Experience managing personnel in a large, unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide academic leadership to faculty and staff, and to develop high performing teams.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Superior organizational, planning, and financial management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled at negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Proven ability to develop partnership linkages to achieve long term institutional goals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success, teaching excellence, quality education, and applied research.
