About the Role

Axiom Builders Inc is a leading construction partner for major developers, with over 5 million square feet under construction. We're seeking a Senior Construction Safety Officer to oversee and enhance safety protocols across our sites.

The Senior CSO's role is to uphold Axiom's stringent safety standards by monitoring site-specific safety plans and ensuring compliance. They will proactively address safety concerns and implement solutions that align with our commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Stay updated on occupational health and safety regulations and maintain relevant certifications
  • Monitor and enhance safety by tracking issues, maintaining records of incidents, and suggesting improvements
  • Conduct orientations, training, and safety coordination for workers and subcontractors
  • Perform safety inspections, hazard assessments, and provide guidance on tool and equipment usage
  • Lead emergency response, manage First Aid resources, investigate incidents, and collaborate on safety record management
What You Bring

The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, leads by example, and demonstrates adaptability in a fast-paced environment. With extensive background in health and safety, they guarantee compliance with safety regulations in all aspects of the construction process.

Requirements
  • Five or more years related experience in a safety position acquired in a construction setting
  • Compulsory Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 2 or OFA 3 accreditation
  • National Construction Safety Officer or similar accreditation through a recognized training authority
  • Additional training in safety an asset, including WHMIS, CSTS, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable Provincial legislation regarding Occupational Health and Safety
  • Effective time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including accident prevention and cause analysis
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with ability to coach, facilitate, and influence cultural and behavioral change in the workplace
  • Post-secondary Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety an asset
