We are seeking a skilled Benefits Consultant to join our team at People Corporation. As a key member of our group benefits consulting team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality support to our clients. Your primary responsibility will be to provide expertise in the design and financial management of group benefits plans for our enterprise and large client base.
Key Responsibilities
• Contribute to the overall design and management of group medical, dental, life, disability, and special risk benefits for clients
• Lead annual renewal analysis and negotiations with carriers; prepare client reports and presentations
• Conduct experience reporting, budget projections, and reviewing plan financial performance
• Review financial statements for accuracy and adherence to underwriting agreements
• Conduct market research by preparing and submitting specifications, analysis, cost comparisons, recommendations, and preparing reports
• Gather data and determine cost impact for plan design changes
• Monitor carrier/provider service standards
• Support the consulting team in preparing documents for client presentations and meetings
• Participate in industry conferences, seminars, etc., to stay up-to-date on industry trends and activities
• Build relationships with clients, carriers, and internal, cross-functional teams
Additional Responsibilities
• Conduct plan design benchmarking studies
• Review all benefits documentation (contracts, booklets, collective agreement, amendments) for accuracy
• Prepare/review master application and all other documentation for new sales submissions
• Monitor implementation process to ensure deadlines met, questions answered, and all forms completed to meet effective date
• Prepare detailed plan design documents using Excel templates and update as required
• Investigate and assist with resolving ad hoc claims and coverage issues for clients
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
• Minimum 2 years' experience in group benefits
• Knowledge of Canadian benefits industry and group benefits financial underwriting requirements for types of benefits plans
• Advanced competency with Microsoft Excel, proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
• Drive to manage and prioritize competing demands to meet client and company needs
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Sensitivity to confidential information
• LLQP, CEBS, or willingness to obtain
