Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Health Care Aide to join our team at Prairie Mountain Health. As a key member of our care team, you will provide direct client care and support to individuals in need, promoting their dignity, independence, and overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and personal hygiene.
  • Follow individualized care plans, providing feedback to improve care and communicating client changes to the team leader.
  • Document care according to policy, including observations and care provided in the client's health record.
  • Provide or assist clients with elimination, mobility, and observation and measurements as per care plan.
  • Apply and care for compression stockings, tensors, braces, and splints as directed.
  • Provide or assist with necessary safety measures, including side rails, seat belts, and wheelchair pedals.
  • Position and/or assist clients with eating, promoting dignity and interaction.
  • Maintain a safe environment by distributing and storing equipment properly.
  • Provide or assist with vital sign measurement, documenting and communicating results to the team leader.
  • Apply oxygen therapy and empty closed suction medical systems as directed.
  • Use medication safety principles with the established application of prescribed creams, ointments, and oil-based lotions.
  • Promote and maintain proper hand hygiene and infection control practices.
  • Maintain a clean environment, including equipment cleaning, linen changing, and supply replenishment.
  • Follow procedures for collecting, labeling, handling, and transporting urine, feces, or sputum specimens.
  • Order and stock unit supplies, including linen and food.
  • Encourage and assist client participation in activity programs and organize leisure activities.
  • Demonstrate the safe use of medical equipment applicable to client service areas.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized program.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Training as per PPG-00002 Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated communication skills.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to display independent judgment.
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.
  • Ability to respect and promote confidentiality.
  • Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interactions with clients, team members, and other stakeholders. You will be required to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on providing high-quality care and support to individuals in need.
