Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Engineering Technologist to join our team at the City of Oshawa. As a key member of our Community Operations Services Department, you will provide technical guidance and assistance on traffic engineering-related matters, maintain and improve the City's Streetlighting System and Municipal Parking System, and perform other related duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support and guidance on traffic engineering-related matters, including receiving complaints and inquiries, planning and undertaking traffic and parking studies, and preparing reports and recommendations.
- Maintain and improve the City's Streetlighting System and Municipal Parking System, including creating and maintaining databases, maps, and plans.
- Review and provide comments on development applications, technical reports, and construction projects.
- Perform other related duties, including providing emergency school Crossing Guard coverage.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in transportation engineering, typically acquired through completion of a Transportation Engineering Technology program, plus three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced experience and skills in Microsoft Office and related software, including specialized traffic/transportation engineering programs, GIS, and AutoCad.
- Excellent research, analytical, and mathematical skills, with experience in traffic study methodologies.
- Good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Current registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with OACETT is considered an asset.
