About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Painter and Decorator to join our team at Winmar Property Restoration Specialists Halifax. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all painting and decorating work is completed to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Surface Preparation: Prepare, clean and sand surfaces to be painted, and repair cracks and holes to ensure a smooth finish.
  • Paint Application: Apply paint, wallpaper and other materials and finishes to interior and exterior surfaces, using a variety of techniques and equipment.
  • Colour Consultation: Advise consumers on colours and choice of wall coverings, taking into account their personal preferences and the style of their property.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment, and ensure that all equipment is in good working order.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure that all work is carried out in a safe and healthy manner, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in painting and decorating.
  • Certifications: First Aid Certificate and Fall Arrest Protection Training Course.
  • Equipment and Machinery Experience: Brush painting, roller painting, drywall taping/patching, water/hydroblasting, and sandblasters.
  • Area of Specialization: Painting.
  • Coating/Application Specialization: Paint spraying.
  • Security and Safety: Criminal record check.
  • Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Ability to work at heights, attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination, and ability to distinguish between colours.
  • Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots.
Working Conditions

This is a permanent position, working 40 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to work at heights and in a variety of environments, including construction sites and client properties.
