Job Description

As an App Architect at Fidelity Clearing Canada, you will be part of a dynamic team that designs and develops innovative solutions for our customers.

Our team works on a 100% remote schedule, and we are looking for a talented individual to join us in this role.

Fidelity Clearing Canada is the leading independent clearing broker and custodian in the Canadian market, providing trade execution, clearing, custody, and back-office support services to Canadian-based brokerage firms and the Canadian brokerage arms of U.S.-based firms.

We are seeking an experienced App Architect to author the high-level design of application components and data flows of business processes at Fidelity Clearing Canada.

This includes customer and digital solutions such as uOpen and uDirect.

The role works as part of an agile delivery team and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure the architecture meets business requirements and is well integrated with enterprise assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Author the design of application components that secure, reusable, scalable, and follow target enterprise architecture principles.
  • Provide technology leadership and advise stakeholders on technical activities, challenges, rationalization of architecture decisions, and communicate plans to application team members.
  • Advise on issues and lead teams to navigate and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the architecture meets business requirements and is well integrated with enterprise assets.
  • Participate in agile meetings to discuss planning, blockers, and report progress on major issues.

Requirements

  • Completed University Degree or equivalent working experience.
  • 7+ years' experience within IT, preferably a development background.
  • 2+ years within a designer or architect position.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to deliver solutions. The ability to rationalize decisions and reach consensus.
  • Experience in straight-through processing (STP) of business processes in a financial domain: Client Account Opening, KYC, Account Transfers, Account Maintenance, etc.
  • Strong technical insight and experience to inform, guide, challenge, and support technical decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience with B2B and system integrations using APIs.
  • Good knowledge of infrastructure and technical stacks: AWS, PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, and low-code frameworks.
  • 1+ year in a formal architecture group (ARB, Architecture Review Board) is preferred.
