About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Communicative Disorders Assistant to join our team at the York Region Preschool Speech and Language Program. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing school-based rehabilitation services to children in kindergarten through a partnership with the Children's Treatment Network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide therapy to Kindergarten-aged children in the areas of articulation, motor speech, stuttering, and voice who are eligible to receive school-based rehabilitation services, funded through the Children's Treatment Network.
  • Carry a caseload under the supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Document in the Children Treatment Network's shared electronic record.
  • Provide occasional evening virtual workshops to parents and caregivers in the areas of articulation, motor speech, and stuttering.
  • Engage in regular communication with parents and caregivers to provide home programming to the family.
  • Take an active role in performing and maintaining professional practice standards, guidelines, and activities.
Requirements
  • Communicative Disorders Assistant Diploma.
  • Previous experience working with children providing school-based rehabilitation services is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to offer services in more than one language is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital-related policies, health and safety legislation, and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.
Work Environment

The successful candidate will be available to work on Monday to Friday. Schedules are subject to change based on operational needs.

Compensation

Salary Grid: YRSLP03: $30.6 - $36.56 per hour.
