About The Royal Mental Health Centre

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Forensic Program team. As a Registered Nurse, you will have a sound knowledge of clinical issues in the area of mental health and addiction, and will provide specialized care to patients with complex mental illnesses.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supportive nursing care consistent with patient treatment/rehabilitation needs and goals.
  • Develop and implement, in conjunction with an interdisciplinary treatment team, creative treatment plans responsive to individual needs.
  • Identify and coordinate the provision of services and resources, in collaboration with affiliate and community partners, advocating to safeguard the person in care's entitlements and rights.
  • Provide a safe, therapeutic environment including crisis management and emergency nursing care.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Preferred certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.
  • Previous nursing experience working in psychiatric/mental health specialization is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, and Substitute Decision Act.
  • Safety and Security in the Workplace Training (candidate must agree to complete prior to start date if this qualification is not met).
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice as articulated in the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice.
  • Able to meet the Standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Recognized leadership skills with the ability to build the inter-disciplinary team approach to delivering interventions.
  • Valid drivers' license, if required.
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual is an asset.

Salary Range

$39.07 to $56.00 per hour
