Job Summary
The Plant Maintenance 1 role at Lafarge Canada Inc. is a critical position that requires a skilled and safety-conscious individual to perform a combination of tasks ranging from housekeeping activities to maintenance tasks on equipment. The successful candidate will work in a team environment to ensure the efficient operation of the plant and site.
Responsibilities
- Promote a safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC, subcontractors, and suppliers, and implement and maintain local and regional initiatives to achieve a "zero" safety incident rate.
- Ensure that the plant and surrounding site are kept safe, presentable, and functional.
- Perform pre-operational checks and operate assigned mobile equipment as trained and directed.
- Complete cleanup assignments using a skid steer and/or hand-held tools, working safely around moving and/or rotating equipment while using the required personal protective safety equipment.
- Assist in repairing broken or malfunctioning equipment and assist with plant repairs as needed.
- Work at heights and in confined spaces as required.
Requirements
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
- Industrial/Mining plant operational experience.
- Heavy equipment operation experience is an asset.
- Basic welding and fitting is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in maintenance.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Working outdoors and in varied temperatures and weather conditions.
- Working indoors in varied conditions (hot, noisy, dusty).
- Rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends when required.
- Regular bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting less than 50 lbs.
