Job Summary
AFL is seeking a skilled labourer to join our team in Rural Manitoba. As a utility technician, you will be responsible for assisting in the installation and maintenance of fiber optic cables and other telecommunications equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the loading and unloading of equipment and supplies needed for daily work assignments
- Clean and maintain all company vehicles and equipment assigned for use
- Set up worksites, including flagging, opening manholes or services boxes, and using gas detectors to assess and ensure gas readings are adequate prior to entering manholes
- Follow directions and instructions assigned by the foreman or manager
- Perform landscaping-related duties
- Adhere to and promote the environmental, health, and safety policies of AFL
Requirements
- Previous utility or construction experience is an asset
- Capable of working in all temperatures and climates and in confined spaces
- Ability to travel to various site-based projects if required
- Interpersonal skills – ability to work well on a team
