Financial Reporting and Audit Specialist

Role Overview:
The Financial Reporting and Audit Specialist will support the development, maintenance, and application of a strong financial reporting and internal control environment by assisting in the execution of quarter and year-end processes within the financial reporting group and the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute SOX processes, including interim walkthroughs, roll forwards, and year-end activities, under the guidance of a supervisor or above.
- Participate in audits as staff to assist in various aspects of the internal audit process, including sample selection and drafting sections of the audit report.
- Support other activities as assigned to meet the objectives and goals of the IA group, including assisting in the preparation of Audit Committee materials.
- Support the external financial reporting process and preparation of other external financial reporting, including regulatory filings and environmental reports.
- Ensure key activities in the FP&A group and marketing group are integrated into financial reporting and business decision-making.
- Prepare and research complex accounting standards and manage the quarterly issue log.
- Prepare consolidated revenue analysis for oversight review and MD&A preparation purposes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a professional area, such as Accounting or Finance.
- Must be a CPA student, registered, and have passed the CFE.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in accounting and/or finance and/or internal audit, with experience in creating auditable working papers in a Corporate office environment.
- Professional designations, such as CIA, CPA, or other relevant credentials, completed or in progress.
- Prior experience in the execution of the SOX program or accountancy is an asset.
- Prior experience with multinational, multi-location companies with a decentralized management structure is preferred.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Quick to learn and adopt new technology, with advanced analytical skills.
- Experience balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
Travel and Working Arrangements:
Expected to travel to all Hudbay locations, with travel varying depending on initiatives and projects. The role is eligible for flexible work arrangements, allowing for 50% time in the office and 50% time working remotely.
