Global Accounting Policy and Advisory Leader

Are you a detail-oriented professional with expertise in accounting standards?
In this role, you will lead the implementation of new accounting standards across key areas of Scotiabank.
You will be responsible for:
- Ensuring that all departments are aware of and prepared to manage the impact of emerging accounting standards.
- Directly implementing new accounting standards, researching issues, and providing alternatives and recommendations on compliance.
- Communicating with cross-functional teams to establish roles and responsibilities in implementing new accounting standards.
- Providing senior management with updates on accounting implications of new and modified IFRS standards.
- Identifying and researching issues, considering flexibility, and making recommendations based on Bank priorities.
- Proposing recommendations that consider the impact on all Bank business lines and results, leading to changes in behavior and practices if necessary.
- Reviewing and recommending appropriate accounting for proposed transactions that are specialized.
- Maintaining and updating the accounting monograph (IFRS policies) and implementation guidelines on a timely basis, including training users and implications of new guidelines.
- Actively participating in the development and interpretation of new and proposed accounting standards, including disclosures in financial statements and MD&A.
This role requires strong organization skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including performance bonuses, employee share ownership, pension plan matching, and health benefits from day one.
