Role Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Bus Fleet Operations Manager to oversee our School Bus Mechanic Shop in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing maintenance operations, supervising shop staff, and ensuring the safe working condition of our fleet.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and administer fleet maintenance, resolving equipment issues and communicating availability with dispatch and other operations personnel.
  • Lead hiring, firing, performance reviews, employee development, and disciplinary actions for shop staff, with some personnel decisions requiring further approval.
  • Collaborate with the location manager and region maintenance management on maintenance status, budget requirements, and financial variances.
  • Ensure compliance with State, Federal, and Company regulations, maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to company policies.
  • Review repair orders, order fuel and parts, and subcontract repair work as needed.
  • Initiate and implement projects to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Train and motivate maintenance technicians to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective maintenance practices.
  • Supervise bus fueling and arrange services for building and ground keeping as required.
Position Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5+ years of hands-on mechanical supervisory experience
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs may be required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Prior experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines and school bus equipment is an asset
Compensation:$65,000 - $85,000 per year
