We are seeking a skilled and experienced Journeyman/Woman Carpenter to join our team at Northern Sustainable Developments ltd.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to carpentry, including preparing layouts, measuring and cutting materials, assembling and joining wood and other materials, and building foundations, walls, and roof systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare layouts and designs in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools and equipment.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems to ensure structural integrity and safety.
- Fabricate and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to meet building codes and specifications.
- Schedule and coordinate work on sites to ensure timely completion and minimal disruptions.
- Instruct and supervise apprentices and other workers to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their tasks safely and effectively.
- Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate.
- Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years.
- Work site environment: At heights, confined spaces, noisy, dusty.
- Work setting: Construction, various locations, commercial, residential.
- Certificates, licenses, memberships, and courses: Carpenter Trade Certification, First Aid Certificate.
- Transportation/travel information: Own vehicle, valid driver's license.
- Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling, handling heavy loads, physically demanding, tight deadlines.
- Own tools/equipment: Tools, safety equipment/gear, steel-toed safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses/goggles.
- Personal suitability: Accurate, efficient interpersonal skills, judgement, reliability, team player, values and ethics.
- Permanent full-time position.
- 40 hours per week with regular breaks.
