Job Title: Technical Representative

Engineering Search Firm Inc is seeking a highly motivated Technical Representative to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario.

Job Summary:

This is an outside sales role that involves offering and achieving solutions through the sale, rental, and installation of scaffolding, fall protection equipment, and other products and services for medium- and long-term projects in various sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify new business opportunities and develop them.
  • Prospect new customers and promote our products and services through cold calling and networking.
  • Respond to customer requests for quotes through phone calls and/or emails.
  • Conduct daily site visits to meet with customers' needs and identify specific services and products for their projects.
  • Liaise with customers, crews, and engineers to make changes/modifications to jobs and provide additional quotes.
  • Draw and prepare sketches for proposed scaffolding structures to create formal drawings.
  • Prepare lists of equipment requirements and cost calculations for quotations.
  • Plan and prepare daily itineraries for site and office visits.
  • Complete contractual documents and provide necessary information and documentation for projects to commence and close out.
  • Obtain Purchase Orders and/or sign backs from customers approving quotes prior to booking jobs.
  • Ensure all proposed installations comply with current health and safety standards.
  • Travel to sites to meet scaffold crews and customers to review scope of work and start installations.
  • Monitor project status and follow up on additional phases.
  • Answer technical calls transferred by customer service.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with clients and internal departments.
  • Work closely with all sectors of the company.
Requirements:
  • College level education or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience in the sale of construction products, ideally in scaffolding or as an estimator in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of construction safety rules.
  • Bilingual, oral and written is an asset.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD software and MS-Office suite.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural and structural drawings.
  • Problem-solving skills through consultation, discussion, and negotiation.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet client deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle to perform work.
  • Technical aptitude oriented towards sales and customer service.
  • Organized, structured, and methodical.
  • Responsible, self-disciplined, and self-motivated.
  • Positive attitude and team spirit.
  • Proficiency in taking measurements with knowledge of both metric and imperial systems.
