Heavy Equipment Technician Job Description

Brandt Tractor Ltd. is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team at our Brossard Construction & Forestry location.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate the working condition of heavy duty equipment, diagnose issues, and perform repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Use secondary materials and equipment safely and effectively, and operate related instruments, hand and power tools, and computer systems.
  • Accurately document all machine information, actions taken, and time taken on work orders.
  • Continuously assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely and to accepted standards.
  • Use computer applications and information systems to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis, and locate parts using parts catalogues.
  • Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required.
Requirements:
  • Outstanding knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proven computer and technical aptitude and knowledge for diagnostics and calibration work.
  • Strong time-management skills to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, showing an appreciation of customer needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Commitment to high quality customer service with a strong people orientation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and technical equipment repair needs.
  • Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment.
  • Enrolled as an Apprentice or certified Journeyperson in the heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent designated trade.
