Key Responsibilities- Operate and Drive: Safely operate a tractor-trailer and transport goods and materials across various routes.
- Mountain Driving Expertise: Possess expertise in driving in mountainous terrain.
- Customer Service: Provide professional customer service to clients and stakeholders.
- Load and Unload: Load and unload goods and materials from the tractor-trailer.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
- Pre-Trip, En Route, and Post-Trip Inspection: Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
- Communication: Receive and relay information to central dispatch and record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods: Transport and handle dangerous goods safely.
- Shipping Documents: Prepare bills of lading, invoices, and other shipping documents.
- Delivery: Deliver goods to customers.
- Certifications and Licenses: Possess an AZ class license, Air Brakes Endorsement, Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi-trailer trucks), Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration (CVOR) Certificate, Driver's License (Class 1 or A), and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate.
- Communication Systems: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment.
- Transportation/Travel Experience: Possess experience in local, provincial/territorial, regional, and short-haul transportation.
- Security and Safety: Possess a basic security clearance, be bondable, and undergo a criminal record check, driver's validity license check, driving record check (abstract), and drug test.
- Transportation/Travel Information: Possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel for extended periods and overnight.
- Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Possess attention to detail, be physically demanding, and able to perform repetitive tasks, sitting, and lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Personal Suitability: Possess efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, flexibility, judgment, organization, reliability, and teamwork skills.
