The Opportunity

Our Co-op Student Program is designed to nurture the next generation of talent by providing an immersive and enriching work experience. We foster a culture of mentorship, collaboration, and continuous learning, empowering co-op students to contribute meaningfully to our projects and initiatives. This role is an on-site position at our Ottawa office.

We are seeking a dynamic Research Scientist Co-op Student with a strong focus on software development to contribute to our team. As a technically adept individual, you will play a vital role in assisting us to achieve our objectives. Your responsibilities will include conducting ongoing research, evaluating potential solutions, and prototyping proof-of-concept applications. You will also be instrumental in scaling up these solutions into production-ready software for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure challenges are well understood.
  • Gather ideas from background knowledge, scientific journals, and industry experts to generate hypotheses for potential solutions.
  • Rapidly prototype proof-of-concept solutions to identify the most effective ideas.
  • Apply specific expertise to turn the best ideas into high-quality beta applications and scale up to production software applications.

Requirements
  • Must be a post-secondary student enrolled in computer science, engineering, applied mathematics, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with AWS, cloud compute resources, massively parallel processing using GPUs, image processing, machine learning, and software tools like ImageJ, OpenCV, and Python will be considered a strong asset.
  • Strong analytical problem diagnosis skills, ability to find, organize, and present information clearly and concisely, and a demonstrated record of learning rapidly and mastering diverse techniques are essential.
  • Tenacity, persistence, and an inquisitive mindset are also required.
