Qualifications and Requirements

**Education and Training:**

We are seeking a candidate with a Baccalaureate Degree in a health-related discipline from an approved post-secondary institution. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have recognized post-basic education related to mental illness and/or alcohol and drug addiction.

**Experience and Skills:**

The successful candidate will have at least two years of recent experience in a related field, with a strong understanding of mental health and addiction issues. They will also possess knowledge of applicable legislation, such as Mental Health and Child Protection legislation, as well as knowledge of available programs and services.

**Key Competencies:**

  • **Treatment and Assessment:**
  • Ability to assess and treat addiction and mental illness in accordance with Island Health's framework and standards.
  • **Communication and Interpersonal Skills:**
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • **Organizational and Problem-Solving Skills:**
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and organize workload.
  • **Technical Skills:**
  • Ability to operate a personal computer with a variety of Windows-based software.

**Additional Requirements:**

The successful candidate will also possess a valid BC Driver's License and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
