The Role: Maintenance Operations Director

The Maintenance Operations Director is a pivotal role that oversees all engineering/maintenance operations at Comfort Inn Kanata. This includes ensuring the hotel's building, grounds, mechanical equipment, guestrooms, and utility systems are well-maintained and functioning optimally.

This position plays a crucial part in managing the maintenance budget, implementing preventative maintenance strategies, and promoting energy conservation throughout the hotel.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • SUPERVISES AND ASSISTS MAINTENANCE STAFF/CONTRACTORS IN THE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF PLUMBING, HOTEL ROOMS, A/C AND HEATING, ICE MACHINES, SWIMMING POOL, LIGHTING, KITCHEN EQUIPMENT, REFRIGERATION, LAUNDRY, EMERGENCY GENERATORS, SWITCH ROOMS, ETC.
  • E NSURES ALL MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS ARE COMPLETED ON A TIMELY, COST-EFFECTIVE BASIS AND ACCORDING TO SPECIFICATIONS.
  • O RDERS NECESSARY MATERIALS AND TOOLS FOR REPAIRING EQUIPMENT AND KEEPS WITHIN BUDGETARY GUIDELINES.
  • M AINTAINS AN ONGOING PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM FOR THE HOTEL.
  • R ESPONSIBLE FOR ADMINISTERING AND DOCUMENTING EQUIPMENT PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE AND GUEST ROOM PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE.
  • R ESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFETY OF THE DEPARTMENT AND THE BUILDING.
  • R ESPONDS QUICKLY TO GUEST REQUESTS IN A FRIENDLY MANNER. FOLLOWS UP TO ENSURE GUEST SATISFACTION.
  • P ROVIDES A PROFESSIONAL IMAGE AT ALL TIMES THROUGH APPEARANCE AND DRESS.
  • F OLLOWS COMPANY POLICIES AND PROCEDURES AND IS ABLE TO EFFECTIVELY COMMUNICATE THEM TO SUBORDINATES.
  • A GGRESSIVELY RECRUITS AND STAFFS DEPARTMENT USING COMPANY HIRING STANDARDS (I.E. BEHAVIORAL QUESTIONING, REFERENCE CHECKS, EVALUATIONS AND TEAM INTERVIEWS). REVIEWS PERFORMANCES AND ASSISTS IN CAREER DEVELOPMENT.
  • C ONDUCTS FIRE DRILLS, TRAINING CLASSES REGARDING SAFETY, SECURITY, DEPARTMENT PROCEDURES AND SERVICE GUIDELINES.
  • E NSURES HOTEL IS IN COMPLIANCE WITH ALL FEDERAL, PROVINCIAL AND LOCAL LAWS, INCLUDING HEALTH AND SAFETY, ESA, HUMAN RIGHTS ETC.
  • E NSURES ALL FIRE AND SAFETY INSPECTIONS ARE COMPLETED AND ANY DISCREPANCIES ARE CORRECTED.
About You

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Maintenance Operations Director who can lead our maintenance team in providing top-notch service to our guests.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3+ years progressive maintenance experience in a supervisory role.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Effective communication and people management skills.
  • Quick thinking and able to spot and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, Micros, POS).
  • Ability to manage personnel and meet financial targets.
  • Guest-oriented and service-minded with an attention to detail.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Must be able to work independently and maintain a positive attitude within a busy environment ~ hours will fluctuate, must be able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, & holidays.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
