Planning Forester

West Fraser is seeking a Planning Forester to join our team in Chetwynd, BC. As a Planning Forester, you will work with a team of professionals responsible for all phases of timber development. Our Planning Foresters enjoy a unique mix of field and office work, providing exposure to all aspects of our diversified and integrated business.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement harvest plans and road designs to ensure efficient and sustainable timber development.
- Collaborate with government agencies and First Nations to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
- Administer contracts, supervise, and ensure quality control of forestry operations.
- Incorporate wildlife and environmental values into operational plans to minimize impact on the environment.
- Consult with stakeholders to ensure their needs are met and concerns are addressed.
- Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) designation in British Columbia (or be immediately eligible and willing to earn this designation).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Highly motivated, self-starter with proven organizational skills.
- Experience in harvest design and layout.
- Strong working knowledge of BC Forest Policy and Appraisals or the aptitude to learn.
