Job Title: Silviculture Surveyor
Job Summary: Wright Canada Holdings Ltd is seeking a Silviculture Surveyor to assist with forest management post-planting. The successful candidate will collect data on reforested blocks on behalf of our clients, assessing tree and overall block regrowth, and identifying invasive species, grass, and other competing vegetation.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct silviculture surveys, including aerial and ground surveys
- Layout for forestry crop release management operations
- Implementation of forestry crop release management operations
- Planting and manual brushing (crop release) quality
- Riparian Assessment, mapping, and prescriptions application
- Crossing and Site Plan Data Collection
- Ecology type identification and stratification
- Mapping and identification of logging hazards prescription application
- Remote camping and wilderness exploration
- Comply with applicable federal, provincial, and local laws, rules, and regulations
Requirements:
- A safety-conscious attitude
- A love of the outdoors
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- 1 year of Forestry-related experience or applicable education
- Post-secondary education in natural resources, forestry, or a related field is considered an asset
- Previous experience operating ATVs and pick-up trucks safely on various road conditions will be considered an asset
- The ability to work away from home for scheduled periods of time
- Basic field work experience
- Experience using GPS, avenza, and other mapping programs
- Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees, clients, and vendors
