Job Title: Silviculture Surveyor

Job Summary: Wright Canada Holdings Ltd is seeking a Silviculture Surveyor to assist with forest management post-planting. The successful candidate will collect data on reforested blocks on behalf of our clients, assessing tree and overall block regrowth, and identifying invasive species, grass, and other competing vegetation.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct silviculture surveys, including aerial and ground surveys
  • Layout for forestry crop release management operations
  • Implementation of forestry crop release management operations
  • Planting and manual brushing (crop release) quality
  • Riparian Assessment, mapping, and prescriptions application
  • Crossing and Site Plan Data Collection
  • Ecology type identification and stratification
  • Mapping and identification of logging hazards prescription application
  • Remote camping and wilderness exploration
  • Comply with applicable federal, provincial, and local laws, rules, and regulations

Requirements:

  • A safety-conscious attitude
  • A love of the outdoors
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • 1 year of Forestry-related experience or applicable education
  • Post-secondary education in natural resources, forestry, or a related field is considered an asset
  • Previous experience operating ATVs and pick-up trucks safely on various road conditions will be considered an asset
  • The ability to work away from home for scheduled periods of time
  • Basic field work experience
  • Experience using GPS, avenza, and other mapping programs
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees, clients, and vendors
