What You Will Do

  • You will apply software engineering principles to plan, test, and maintain our software products, ensuring their functionality and integrity.
  • You will design, develop, and execute methods of testing and troubleshooting for complex systems, confirming their performance and reliability.
  • You will take individual responsibility for verifying and validating system requirements and software features, guaranteeing their accuracy and completeness.
  • You will devise and implement procedures for automatic testing of routine and complex test cases, streamlining our testing process.
  • You will adapt existing tests to new products, features, and platforms, promoting reuse and repurposing for cost savings.
  • You will troubleshoot, resolve, and report on problems encountered during testing, documenting your findings for follow-up.
  • You will investigate and resolve software change requests, system problem reports, and customer tickets, providing timely and effective solutions.
  • You may take on additional responsibilities as a technical lead, preparing software specifications, managing requirements, and providing expert reviews.
  • You may be responsible for building and managing medium to large labs, both in size and complexity.
  • You may participate in the concept phase, creating use cases or evaluating prototypes, driving innovation and improvement.

This is a hybrid role with 4 days/week in office, offering a great balance between work and personal life.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • You must have a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics, or Mathematics, along with 5+ years of experience in a software environment.
  • Experience in developing real-time interfaces to external systems is highly desirable.
  • You should understand manual testing in labs on large systems and automated testing using Python.
  • Experience in testing software on Windows and Linux platforms, as well as areas like 2D/3D graphics, TCP/IP, UDP, and real-time systems, is an asset.
  • You should be able to understand and work with complex software requirement specifications, emphasizing test coverage and traceability to requirements.
  • Experience in authoring both manual test procedures and automation test cases is necessary.
  • You should be able to assist with troubleshooting and reproducing complex system-level problems, working effectively in a high-paced environment.
  • Experience working with distributed networks and network analyzers, like Wireshark, is beneficial.
  • ISO 9001 compliance experience in a software engineering environment is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with strong teamwork skills and attention to detail.
  • You should be proactive, taking on new responsibilities and suggesting alternative solutions when needed.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000 CDN, commensurate with education, experience, and internal parity.
