Job Summary
Cameco Corporation is seeking a skilled Construction Specialist to join our team in the underground construction of our mining operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting with the organization and execution of all underground construction activities, including backfill and concrete placement, bulkhead building, ventilation work, and installation of backfill gantry and backfill plug.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning and execution of underground construction projects
- Operate various underground mobile equipment, including backhoes and excavators
- Work with a SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) when required
- Collaborate with the construction team to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma, or equivalent
- One to two years of relevant work experience in an industrial setting
- Good reading, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to understand blueprints and construction plans
- Excellent safety and attendance record
- Ability to work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous underground experience
- Journeyperson carpenter's ticket
Working Conditions
- Work will be performed in a fast-paced underground construction environment
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
