Job Title: Senior Optical Process Engineer

At Sanmina, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Optical Process Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our product solutions development team, you will provide process engineering solutions in support of product development, NPI, and manufacturing of various optical product families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work directly with optical product design and development teams to provide process engineering solutions in support of new product development, with subsequent NPI and manufacturing support.
  • Support new technology research and development pertaining to optical process solutions.
  • Manage projects and timelines to meet milestones on various customer projects.
  • Develop active alignment recipes on automated optical alignment systems for free space optics, grating, coupling, edge coupling, fiber arrays, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze process performance problems, providing technical guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Conduct research into complex engineering problems to develop new operating policies, capabilities, and processes.
  • Assist the Process Engineering team in delivering on accountabilities, taking ownership of processes under your control.
  • Help create Process Assembly documentation and conceptualize tooling and fixtures.
  • Perform qualification on new processes being introduced, implement and suggest engineering changes, and research, procure, and accept new equipment for continuously evolving technologies.
  • Support customer NPI builds within tight timelines and provide DFx type feedback to internal design teams and external customers to optimize manufacturability and increase yields and throughput.
Requirements:
  • University degree in Engineering.
  • 8+ years' experience in a Process or Manufacturing Engineering role.
  • Experience with active optical alignment of free space optics, ficonTEC automated aligners, equipment programming, and best practice process control.
  • Understanding of operating methodologies in an electronics assembly environment, experience with implementing Engineering changes, and experience with organizing and structuring file folders and naming conventions.
  • Experience with Labview or other motion control software programming, hands-on build experience, and experience with laser welding, establishing active alignment requirements, and setup of eng bench type systems.
  • Experience with Auto cad/SolidWorks, lean manufacturing principles, DFM, and FMEA, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
