Employee Relations Manager

Scotiabank is seeking a highly skilled Employee Relations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will play a critical role in supporting the overall success of our Employee Relations and Labour Relations business strategy and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and finalize medium/high risk Employee Relations and Labour Relations cases in support of designated business lines/subsidiaries/countries.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, Bank policies, and processes.
  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and provide value-added advice and coaching on employment-related issues to employees, People Managers, and HR Business Partners.
  • Conduct formal investigations into allegations of serious misconduct and present findings and recommendations to Senior Leadership.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree or college diploma in Human Resources, Business, or another related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in Employee Relations or Human Resources.
  • Proficiency in French is required.
  • CHRP or CHRL designation is considered an asset.
  • Expert knowledge of employment law and labour law within the various countries ER/LR supports.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to apply sound judgement.
  • Strong conflict and alternative dispute resolution skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including strong report writing and presentation skills.
