Canadian Blood Services is seeking a skilled Plasma Associate/Process Lead to join our dynamic Plasma Operations team.
The Plasma Operations team is responsible for ensuring the safe collection of plasma to produce life-saving products. As a Plasma Associate/Process Lead, you will be responsible for performing various duties associated with the plasma donation and production process, including:
- Delivering training to meet the learning needs of colleagues and new hires
- Maintaining training records and documentation
- Providing guidance to staff to ensure processes are performed effectively and safely
- Fostering a positive working environment
- Assisting with recruitment and retention initiatives
- Conducting confidential donor screening and obtaining donor consent
- Performing venepuncture according to established standards
You will work closely with the Team Lead/Plasma Nurse to coordinate and deliver training programs, maintain training records, and mentor staff in best practices for safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver training to meet identified learning needs of colleagues and new hires
- Maintain training records and documentation associated with training and development for each staff member
- Provide guidance to staff to ensure that processes are performed effectively, efficiently, and safely
- Foster and promote a positive working environment in which staff feel empowered, challenged, and engaged
- Assist with various recruitment/retention initiatives designed to further grow or engage the donor base
- Conduct confidential donor screening and obtain donor consent
- Perform venepuncture according to established standards
- Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution, preferably in science/health-related field of study
- A minimum of three years of progressive experience working with the public, particularly in a high customer-focused environment
- Completion of a formal training program in phlebotomy
- A deep understanding of plasma operations processes, policies, procedural requirements, and equipment
- Experience with current Good Manufacturing and Good Documentation Practices
- Knowledge of continuous improvement processes and practices
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Bilingualism is an asset
- Adaptable, flexible, and comfortable with frequent changes
- Ability to work under pressure to meet demands of the job
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask
- The ability to exercise judgment, tact, diplomacy, and strict confidentiality are mandatory
