Senior Rotoscope Artist

About the Role
The Senior Rotoscope/Paint Artist is a key member of our Visual Effects team at Zoic Studios, responsible for creating complex matte elements and performing rig, seam, and dust removals.
Key Responsibilities
- Review stage elements with leadership and assign shots based on complexity.
- Collaborate with compositors to ensure requested matte and paint work meets technical and creative requirements.
- Utilize rotoscope techniques in Nuke or Silhouette to generate mattes and splines.
- Apply paint and compositing techniques in Nuke to produce clean plates, remove rigs and seams, and other artifacts.
- Attend dailies, receive feedback, and implement changes as necessary.
- Drive tasks to completion, ensuring deadlines are met, and oversee quality control of approved elements.
- Mentor and train junior team members, developing and maintaining training materials.
- Absorb shot work as needed, focusing on complex shot assignments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Rotoscope/Paint experience, preferably in feature films.
- Strong composition, detail, light, and color awareness.
- Stereoscopic experience.
- Proficiency in Silhouette and Nuke (Furnace and After Effects experience a plus).
- Ability to work efficiently and independently, with strong time management and problem-solving skills.
Additional Information
- British Columbia Employees Pay Range: $35 - $45 (dependent on qualifications, experience, and other factors).
- Candidates must be located in the Lower Mainland, British Columbia, and be willing to work onsite in our Vancouver Studio.
- Zoic does not cover relocation costs.
- Remote positions require a reliable internet connection and work on Pacific Standard Time.
