About the Role
Zoic Studios is seeking a skilled Rotoscope/Paint Artist to join our team in Vancouver. As a key member of our visual effects team, you will be responsible for creating high-quality matte elements and digitally removing rigs, seams, and dust from footage.
Key Responsibilities
- Review stage elements with leadership and assign complex shots.
- Collaborate with compositors to ensure requested matte and paint work meets technical and creative requirements.
- Use rotoscope techniques in Nuke or Silhouette to generate mattes and splines.
- Apply paint and compositing techniques in Nuke to produce clean plates, remove artifacts, and generate pre-comps for compositors.
- Attend dailies, receive feedback, and implement changes.
- Drive tasks to completion, meet deadlines, and oversee quality control of approved elements.
- Mentor and train junior team members, develop training material, and absorb shot work as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of Rotoscope/Paint experience, preferably on feature films.
- Strong composition, detail, light, and color awareness.
- Stereoscopic experience.
- Proficiency in Silhouette and Nuke (Furnace and After Effects experience a plus).
- Ability to work efficiently and independently, with strong time management and problem-solving skills.
Additional Information
- British Columbia Employees Pay Range: $35 - $45 (dependent on qualifications, experience, and education).
- Candidates must be located in the Lower Mainland, British Columbia, and be willing to work onsite in our Vancouver Studio.
- Zoic does not cover relocation costs.
- This role requires a reliable internet connection via ethernet and work on Pacific Standard Time.
