About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Kitchen Helper to join our team at Ptarmigan Inn. As a Kitchen Helper, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization, and supporting our culinary team in preparing and serving delicious meals to our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas.
  • Remove kitchen garbage and trash, and maintain a clean and organized kitchen area.
  • Assist with food preparation, including washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruits.
  • Support the culinary team in preparing and serving meals, and maintain a high level of customer service.
  • Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees, and assist with their immediate settlement needs.
  • Support the recruitment and integration of newcomers and/or refugees into the workplace.
  • Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports youth employment, and offer on-the-job training and mentorship opportunities.
  • Support the recruitment and integration of youth into the workplace.
  • Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports Veterans, and offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities.
  • Support the recruitment and integration of Veterans into the workplace.
  • Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people, and offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities.
  • Support the recruitment and integration of Indigenous people into the workplace.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of productivity.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
