Job Title: Technical Specification Writer

Brandt is seeking a skilled Technical Specification Writer to join our team in Stoney Creek, Peterbilt location. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, writing, and maintaining accurate specifications for Peterbilt trucks in collaboration with the Sales Manager and Territory Managers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to sales and service teams by clarifying technical specifications and troubleshooting documentation-related inquiries.
  • Accompany sales teams on customer visits to investigate customer needs and requirements, ensuring specifications are tailored to their application.
  • Ensure consistency in terminology and formatting across all specification documentation.
  • Work with preferred Body Builders to optimize functional specifications in each industry.
  • Update specifications in line with product changes, new models, industry regulations, and corporate spec change orders from Peterbilt.
  • Assist in training sales staff on technical documents and provide access to resources to improve knowledge of specifications.
  • Review and edit existing specifications for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
  • Assemble clear and concise Peterbilt specifications, including user manuals and preventive service guides.
  • Collaborate with Peterbilt Engineers, district Sales Managers, and the sales team to gather accurate information about heavy truck specifications.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of heavy truck systems, specifications, and mechanical principles.
  • Proficient in writing clear and concise documentation.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into understandable language.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Proficient with documentation tools and software.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Business Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in technical spec writing, preferably within the automotive or heavy truck industry.
