Job Title: Automation Systems Designer

As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing innovative automation solutions for our clients. Your expertise in mechanical design, robotics, and assembly systems will enable you to create efficient and effective production lines that meet our customers' needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop automation systems, including robotic cells and assembly systems, production gauges, and error proofs.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine the shape, dimensions, and materials required for equipment and processes.
  • Perform engineering calculations to ensure the strength and durability of materials, as well as the proper functioning of equipment and systems.
  • Collaborate with electrical designers to review electrical requirements and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Work with project teams to review machine operations and sequences, and select appropriate purchase components for mechanical assemblies.
  • Produce working drawings, detail drawings, and bills of materials for equipment and sub-assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, and proper machining techniques.
  • Assist the manufacturing team in resolving issues during build, debug, and integration of projects.
  • Communicate with customers, technical staff, and vendors to gather technical information and specifications.
  • Responsible for communicating design changes to the project team and Automation Engineering Manager.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives and perform other related duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years' experience in special purpose equipment and/or automation design.
  • Experience with robotic cells and assembly systems is an asset.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks and knowledgeable in common machine shop techniques.
  • Strong ability to conceptualize and create solutions for complex design requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of pneumatic systems and electrical devices.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and capable of giving and taking direction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
