About the Opportunity
This position is an integral part of the Squamish Nation Rights and Title Department, reporting directly to the Senior Regulatory Specialist - Rights and Title. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring the construction of the Woodfibre LNG site, working closely with the FortisBC environmental inspection team to observe construction activities, discuss concerns, and find solutions. This role will serve as the Nation's eyes and ears on-site, requiring a high level of autonomy and self-motivation.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor construction activities and report findings to the Senior Regulatory Specialist - Rights and Title
- Collaborate with the FortisBC environmental inspection team to ensure compliance with environmental regulations
- Develop and implement solutions to address concerns and issues arising from construction activities
- Provide regular updates to the Senior Regulatory Specialist - Rights and Title on construction progress and any issues that may arise
- Coordinate with the Indigenous Monitors team to ensure effective communication and collaboration
Requirements
- Self-motivated and autonomous, with excellent communication and time management skills
- Experience with standard monitoring requirements and processes, with a strong understanding of environmental regulations
- Ability to work in a dynamic team environment, with a positive and approachable attitude
- Leadership experience, with the ability to manage teams and facilitate consensus solutions
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with external stakeholders
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience with Field Maps and other relevant software
