Economic Sanctions Risk Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Economic Sanctions Risk Manager to join our team at Royal Bank of Canada. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the bank's compliance with international regulations and mitigating potential risks.
About the RoleThe Economic Sanctions Risk Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, including reviewing client files and activity to assess and address any sanctions risk. This involves conducting investigations to ensure that client activity involving sanctioned countries, individuals, or entities is permissible under applicable sanctions regulations.
This position requires strong knowledge of Canadian, US, UK, and EU sanctions regulations and experience in financial industry compliance or legal fields. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in a similar role, with proficiency in a foreign language an asset.
The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and analytical skills. They will also be able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough investigations into client relationships where a possible nexus to a sanctioned country, individual, or entity has been identified
- Assess potential sanctions risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
- Manage the global economic sanctions investigations queue and generic mailbox management
- Ensure accurate documentation of investigations and assessment of sanctions regulations
- Collaborate with internal teams to provide sanctions guidance and support
