Patient Registration Clerk

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Registration Clerk to join our team at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth registration of patients and providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Interview patients, relatives, or friends to obtain personal information and proof of eligibility for admission.
- Explain admission forms, eligibility policies, and room differentials, and obtain signatures as required.
- Identify available bed booking options and communicate these to patients.
- Receive payments and issue receipts.
- Receive and record patient valuables for safekeeping.
- Transport patients to wards or arrange for transport.
- Perform hospital switchboard duties.
- Provide information and directions to visitors and handle telephone inquiries.
- Receive, open, and redirect the hospital's incoming mail.
- Monitor alarm panels and respond to fire alarms.
- Completion of Grade 12.
- A current typing test of 45 wpm or greater, completed within the past 48 months from a recognized institution.
- Certificate or official transcript showing proof of completion of a medical terminology course.
- Ability to keyboard at 45 wpm.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
