TVOkids is seeking an experienced Guidance Counsellor to join our team in a 12-month contract position. As a Guidance Counsellor, you will have the opportunity to implement curriculum practices relevant to guidance and career education.
The ideal candidate will be certified as a teacher with Guidance qualifications (Specialist) and be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers. They should also have a minimum of 5 years working experience with Indigenous students and be knowledgeable about Indigenous ways of teaching and learning, and Indigenous culture.
Key responsibilities will include liaising with students, teachers, and parents, as well as working collaboratively with colleagues and various groups and committees on matters regarding guidance services. You will also provide support in the area of diploma requirements, diploma assessments, and Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR), and develop and implement accommodation plans as required.
We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about working with Indigenous students and has a strong understanding of the Ontario Ministry of Education's curriculum and district school board policies and guidelines.
