We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at The Regional Municipality of York. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal operation of our groundwater systems, water treatment plants, and associated booster stations.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water treatment plants, pumping stations, and transmission system components.
- Conduct daily checks and analysis on equipment operation and make adjustments to process controls to optimize effluent quality and ensure compliance with Provincial regulations.
- Participate in the design, installation, and commissioning of new equipment to ensure efficient operation and compliance with asset management standards.
- Provide guidance and supervision to operators and co-op students, ensuring they meet certification requirements.
- Maintain data logs and perform laboratory analysis, including MECP regulatory compliance sampling and submission.
- Participate in performance metrics planning and contribute to committees, task forces, or work groups as assigned.
- MECP License for Water Treatment and a License for Water Distribution and Supply, with experience as designated by Provincial Acts and Regulations.
- Demonstrated field experience working in water/wastewater facilities, with completion of training courses and certification(s) as designated by Provincial Acts and Regulations.
- Valid Class "G" driver's license, clear of serious offenses under the Highway Traffic Act.
- Demonstrated knowledge of system hydraulics and the OH&S Act and relevant Provincial Acts and Regulations.
- Ability to work in a noisy environment, withstand long periods of standing, walking, and heavy lifting, and work in all/extreme weather conditions.
