Water Treatment and Distribution Specialist

Job Summary:

The Regional Municipality of York is seeking a highly skilled Water Treatment and Distribution Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal operation of water treatment plants, associated pumping stations, and ground water systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water treatment plants, pumping stations, and transmission system components.
  • Conduct daily checks and analysis on equipment operation and make adjustments to process controls to optimize effluent quality.
  • Participate in the design, installation, and commissioning of new equipment to ensure efficient operation and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to operators and co-op students enrolled in education programs.
  • Maintain data logs and perform laboratory analysis, including MECP regulatory compliance sampling and submission.
  • Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to achieve operational objectives.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • MECP License for Water Treatment and a License for Water Distribution and Supply.
  • Demonstrated field experience working in water/wastewater facilities with completion of training courses and certification(s).
  • Valid Class "G" drivers' licence and ability to physically withstand long periods of standing, walking, climbing, and heavy lifting.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, wear a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, and respond to emergency situations.
