**Job Description**

The Route Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of multiple routes, ensuring the health and safety of our drivers, and promoting efficient operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of route balancing and sequencing techniques, excellent communication skills, and the ability to cultivate positive working relationships with employees.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage all residential, garbage, and recycle routes and drivers on a daily basis;
  2. Plan and monitor employee schedules and route scheduling including regular communication throughout the day until all routes are completed;
  3. Ensure that operations are running safely by performing driver observations and monthly safety meetings;
  4. Oversee day-to-day operations of multiple routes;
  5. Perform operational audits of collections routes and observation routes;
  6. Ensure that drivers required to operate company vehicles or equipment are completing daily safety and maintenance checks so that issues are addressed in a timely manner to eliminate or reduce downtime;
  7. Perform training of new hires;
  8. Conduct accident investigations including scene management, first accident report and final analysis with root cause and preventative measures;
  9. Maintain Environmental Health and Safety programs including training, meetings and required reporting of relevant EH&S issues;
  10. Maintain adherence to company safety policies and MTO regulations;

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years route supervisory experience;
  • Valid DZ licence an asset (G Class Required);
  • Experience operating waste collection equipment is an asset;
  • Familiar with route balancing and sequencing techniques;
  • Ability to supervise others and ensure excellent performance by setting clear goals and expectations, tracking progress against set goals, and ensuring feedback to address performance challenges as they arise;
  • The skill and ability to cultivate positive working relationships with employees to ensure a team environment.
