Health & Safety Maintenance Specialist

Toyota Tsusho Canada, Inc. is a Canadian division of a multinational Japanese trading firm with numerous interests in supply-chain activities, intermediate goods production, scrap metal recycling and manufacturing-related services.
Our location in Woodstock, ON, currently has an opportunity for the position of Health & Safety Maintenance Specialist under the direction and support of the Management team, this is a multifaceted position. This role will be responsible for championing the company’s Occupational Safety Program while maintaining the sub assembly equipment as well as participate in light maintenance of the facility. This position must promote a positive safety culture while monitoring safe work practices in effort to minimize accidents and injuries throughout the facility. The Health and Safety/ Maintenance Specialist must lead by example to achieve and exceed results.

Job Functions/Duties:
- Maintain awareness and implement amendments to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations
- Perform job site safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, risk assessments, safe work procedures, written reports, and recommendations.
- Maintain the OHSMS and Global Standards Safety elements and all documentation required.
- Conduct safety training to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate inspections, investigations, and occupational safety activities with leadership
- Direct and review the analysis of accident and injury data, identifying the needs for new or modified occupational safety programs.
- Maintain updates to the BBO program while ensuring constant compliance with program requirements.
- Support the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
**Maintenance**
- Maintain PM program for all sub assembly machines.
- Support machine breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Minor building and ground maintenance.
- Direct the forklift training program.
- Identify kaizen opportunities including cost, safety, and time savings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- 3-5 years’ experience in similar H&S roles.
- Warehouse/Manufacturing experience considered to be an asset.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
- Valid forklift license 1 year min.
- Strong Mechanical aptitude; physically and comprehensively
Work Conditions:
- Physical ability to lift 25lbs.
- Warehouse and office environment.
- Travel as necessary.
- Overtime as required.
