Job Summary

The British Columbia Cancer Research Institute (BCCRI) is seeking an exceptional candidate to fill a full-time position at the rank of Scientist in the field of Cancer Biology. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent, externally funded, and internationally recognized research program in Cancer Biology.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Research Scientist with expertise in Cancer Biology to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful research in Cancer Biology, including a strong publication history and experience in developing and working with in vivo animal modeling of human solid tumors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish an independent research program in Cancer Biology, focusing on tumour development, cell plasticity, and metastasis.
  • Foster active collaborations in biomedical research within the BCCRI, the UBC Faculty of Medicine, and other affiliated universities.
  • Teach molecular biology and medical science-related courses at the graduate and undergraduate level, within the department in which the partner appointment is secured.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:
  • A PhD or MD in Cancer Biology or a related area, supplemented with at least 3 years of postdoctoral or equivalent experience.
  • A strong publication history in Cancer Biology, with a focus on tumour development, cell plasticity, and metastasis.
  • Experience in developing and working with in vivo animal modeling of human solid tumors.
