We are on the cusp of a transformative era in cancer research and care, with groundbreaking discoveries and innovative treatments being developed at an unprecedented pace. As a key member of our fundraising team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to this exciting journey by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gifts from prospective donors.
This dynamic role offers a unique blend of strategic planning, relationship-building, and donor engagement. You will work closely with our Executive Director, Development, to develop and implement effective strategies for securing major gifts in the $25,000 to $500,000 range. Your expertise will be instrumental in building and maintaining strong relationships with current and prospective donors, ensuring that their philanthropic goals align with our mission to drive meaningful change in cancer research and care.
As a Development Officer or Senior Development Officer, Major Gifts, you will be responsible for:
- Cultivating, securing, and stewarding major gifts in the specified range
- Developing a deep understanding of our fundraising priorities and collaborating with stakeholders to recommend research strategies and approaches
- Maintaining accurate and timely information on prospects and donors in our database, Raiser's Edge
- Qualifying new donor prospects for further action in line with our organizational fundraising priorities
- Identifying new prospective donors, assessing their gift capacity, and developing targeted cultivation strategies
- Providing regular progress updates and insights to inform our fundraising efforts
To succeed in this role, you will possess a unique combination of skills, experience, and qualities, including:
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear executive-level information
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices, with a keen interest in innovative ideas for research and pipeline management
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate complex information and financial data into actionable insights
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, effectiveness, and organizational skills, with the ability to work well within tight timelines
We offer a comprehensive compensation package, including a competitive salary and benefits, to support your success in this role. The estimated annual salary for this position is between $68,000 and $94,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
