Job Summary
BC Ferries is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Communications Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our communications department, you will play a critical role in helping us chart our course into the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies and plans to support company-wide initiatives and external communications.
- Draft and develop a variety of communications materials, including news releases, positioning notes, memos, presentations, reports, speeches, correspondence, and advertorials.
- Manage workload and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, working closely with project managers and key stakeholders.
- Proactively identify story ideas and pitches to appropriate media outlets, and serve as a corporate spokesperson as needed.
- Rotate handling of the media line on weekends and after hours in the event of an emergency.
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in journalism, public relations, applied communications, or a related discipline.
- Experience in a public relations or communications role with high visibility in the public eye.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, research, and project management skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours under changing conditions.
