Job Title: Direct Service Worker

Michif Child and Family Services (MCFS) is a mandated child and family services agency with a commitment to providing culturally appropriate community-based child protection and support services for Metis and Inuit people in Manitoba.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide basic housekeeping duties, including cooking and meal preparation, to support the well-being of children and families.
  • Monitor and report on property maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist with daily routines and procedures, including wake-up calls and bedtime routines.
  • Supervise and monitor television, video, and computer use, ensuring age-appropriate content.
  • Administer medication as directed by medical professionals.
  • Document daily activities, including incident reports, menu planning, and daily logs.
  • Provide transportation and support for family visits and scheduled appointments.
  • Determine and document disciplinary actions for youth, communicating with the team on the reason and duration of discipline.
Requirements:
  • CPR and Emergency First Aid certification.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid Manitoba class 5F driver's license.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Metis culture and communities.
  • Grade 12 diploma an asset.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training an asset.
  • Ability to cook and maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
