Support Worker

Job Summary
Rural and Northern Child and Family Services is seeking a qualified Support Worker to join our team. As a Support Worker, you will provide support to children, youth, and families in a rural and northern setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide respite services to family and other caregivers
- Create supportive relationships with individuals and their family
- Provide supervision, companionship, and personal care of the participant
- Promote the safety and well-being of the participant
- Implement behavior support plans
- Assist, support, and participate in community services and recreation activities
- Provide transportation to recreational outings and appointments
- Teach independent living skills, such as self-care, cooking, community access, budgeting, and banking
Requirements
- Ability to work with children and families in a supportive manner while establishing and maintaining professional boundaries
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with children, families, co-workers, and agencies
- Ability to work with families, children, and youth facing multiple barriers, such as financial difficulties, addiction, abuse, mental health, etc.
- Ability to work with families, children, and youth from diverse cultural and social backgrounds and have an awareness of cultural values and differences
- Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and implement tasks and activities appropriately
- Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills, including the ability to handle confidential, sensitive, and non-routine issues in a challenging environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Excellent written communication skills
Working Conditions
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Must provide a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check
- Must have a valid driver's license, access to a vehicle, and the ability to travel within a specified region of Manitoba
- Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and overnights
- Physical ability to perform all necessary duties, which may include lifting and physical activities
