Salary and Benefits

$37.31 - $49.05 Hourly salary, competitive benefits package including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

About the Opportunity

The Social Worker will work as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team to provide support to families and reduce health inequities in the prenatal, postpartum and early childhood period. The role takes a person-centered and trauma and violence-informed care (TVIC) approach to perinatal mental health interventions such as screening, biopsychosocial assessment, education and brief intervention, and care planning to support perinatal mental health and wellbeing.

The Social Worker works to develop and enhance community relationships, holds knowledge of and collaborates with community partners and services. The Social Worker provides specialist consultation and support to multidisciplinary team members and holds integrated knowledge of the social, structural, emotional, psychological, and cultural determinants for well-being in the early years.

Requirements
  • Master of Social Work (specialization in a community or perinatal mental health stream considered an asset)
  • Registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work required
  • Two years of clinical experience providing independent assessment and treatment of mental health disorders
  • Experience in a community mental health setting considered an asset
