Job Title: Senior Backend Developer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Developer to join our team at illumin Holdings Inc.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of a complex, distributed system of hundreds of servers. They will also be responsible for architecting and developing performant, highly-available software, carefully optimizing systems that handle 1.5 million requests per second and provide a response within 120ms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead complex technical projects from planning to execution.
  • Coordinate efforts, releases, and work with other teams within the organization.
  • Understand our platform in the context of its business in-depth and drive investigations of issues when they arise.
  • Mentor other developers in the team.
  • Provide thought leadership and identify growth opportunities.
Requirements:
  • 6 years of professional software development experience.
  • 3 years of writing RESTful web services and working with relational databases.
  • Coding experience with Java and Kotlin.
  • Experience with Spring.
  • Experience with highly available, highly performant systems.
  • Experience in database schema design, infrastructure, and SQL.
  • Experience in NoSQL Databases.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux environments.
  • Expertise in design patterns and functional programming.
  • Familiarity with Networking in the context of server management.
  • Familiarity with Big Data concepts, inclusive of Hadoop, HDFS, or Druid.
