Custodian Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at School District #22 (Vernon). As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and maintain District facilities, including classrooms, offices, and common areas.
  • Operate various cleaning equipment and use chemical products and cleaning apparatus as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety and WHMIS regulations.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and unplugging toilets.
  • Remove snow, ice, and garbage from District facilities.
  • Responsible for building security, including checking and securing buildings, setting alarms, and monitoring activities.
  • Communicate with students, staff, and others, and respond to inquiries and provide general information.

Requirements:

  • Grade 10 education
  • Knowledge of commercial building cleaning methods
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
  • Physical ability to perform all aspects of the job

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of District policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
