Are you a detail-oriented and organized individual with a passion for maintaining a clean and safe environment? Do you have experience with custodial work and a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service?
We are seeking a Custodian II to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a Custodian II, you will be responsible for performing moderately complex custodial work, including cleaning, dusting, disinfecting, and sanitizing to maintain a safe and healthy environment. You will also operate floor maintenance equipment, request and restock supplies as needed, and assist in conducting inspections of buildings and equipment for cleanliness and needed repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and maintain floors, restrooms, nurses' station, and other areas in accordance with established procedures and safety measures.
- Perform custodial functions timely and with high quality, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning windows and light fixtures.
- Ensure proper sanitization and disinfection in accordance with training received.
- Assist in conducting inspections of buildings and equipment for cleanliness and needed repairs.
- Perform minor building and equipment repairs and installations.
- Accountable for maintaining assigned custodial equipment in good working order.
- Maintain outside areas around the hospital, clear trash and debris.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, standards, and sanitation regulations.
- Knowledge of infection control principles and methods.
- Skills in the use of custodial equipment, materials, and the safe handling of chemicals.
- Ability to stay on task and complete work timely.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand/walk on hard floors for extended periods.
- Ability to work harmoniously and productively with co-workers and patients.
Working Conditions:
This position may require working irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The Custodian II may also be required to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
